While Turbo Kid was set in an alternate apocalyptic 1997, the filmmakers collective of François Simard, Anouk Whissell, and Yoann-Karl Whissell are rewinding a little further back in time with a more realistic look in Summer of ’84.
With production underway in Vancouver, the social media pages for the movie are sharing behind the scenes glimpses of the retro aesthetic being achieved.
“The horror-thriller is set in 1984 and centers on 15-year-old neighborhood conspiracy theorist Davey Armstrong who suspects his police officer neighbor might be the serial killer all over the local news. He and his three best friends begin an investigation that soon puts them in danger.”
“Mad Men” star Rich Sommer and “Riverdale” star Tiera Skovbye will star in the film, alongside Graham Verchere, Judah Lewis, Caleb Emery, and Cory Gruter-Andrew.
