Stephen King On Which King Adaptations Deserve Another Watch
One of the cool things about Stephen King‘s work getting tons of new adaptations is that King has been taking part in all kinds of interviews lately, giving us a whole lot of insight into topics we’re all hungry to talk with him about. Do you know, for example, which not-yet-adapted story of his he’d love to see adapted?
On that note…
In a lengthy interview that Yahoo just published, King shares his feelings on this year’s IT, Gerald’s Game and “Mr. Mercedes,” while also revealing his thoughts on the King-inspired “Stranger Things.” Yahoo even asked King to name some past adaptations of his work that maybe deserve a second chance.
“I don’t know, I don’t know. There are ones that I frankly don’t understand why they reviewed so badly,” King responded. “Guess I’ve got to go back and look at Dreamcatcher, which has just been kind of lashed. I’d like to take a look at that again. And I frankly never understood why people didn’t like Cell, because to me that was a terrific, eccentric movie with some really eccentric, strange performances in it. John Cusack at his best, and Samuel L. Jackson is terrific. So I would say Cell for sure.”
“Dreamcatcher, I don’t know, I better look at it again,” King continued. “I thought it was okay at the time.”

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).
Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.
While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.
The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.
Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.
We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
