If Nancy doesn’t wake up screaming…
For the most part, the movie posters of today pale in comparison to the awesome pieces of art that were whipped up for horror films back in the ’80s. The original poster for Friday the 13th is one of my personal favorites, with the doomed characters and camp setting brilliantly drawn within the eerie figure of the knife-wielding killer.
Spiros Angelikas designed the iconic illustration, which was painted by Alex Ebel.
Using that original Friday poster as inspiration, artist Robert Heckman just whipped up his own tribute art for another ground-breaking ’80s slasher film: A Nightmare on Elm Street. Heckman’s unique Elm Street poster wonderfully presents Wes Craven’s film in the same style that Angelikas & Ebel used to market Friday the 13th.
Prints of the awesome tribute art will be sold at Slashback Video this weekend.
