The film is being described as Heart of Darkness… in deep space.
We told you back in June that Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones were on board to star in Ad Astra, with James Gray directing from a script he co-wrote with Ethan Gross. Filming on the science fiction film is currently underway, and it’s just been dated for release.
20th Century Fox will release Ad Astra on January 11, 2019.
Pitt plays Roy McBride, a slightly autistic space engineer.
“Twenty years after his father (Jones) left on a one-way mission to Neptune in order to find signs of extra-terrestrial intelligence, McBride travels through the solar system to find him and understand why his mission failed.”
The cast also includes Ruth Negga, Donald Sutherland and Jamie Kennedy.
