Atlus Announces ‘Catherine’ Remake for PlayStation 4

Probably one of the weirder games on the PlayStation 3, Atlus’ Catherine was a mix of a puzzle platformer and an RPG, with “romantic horror” undertones (if that makes any sense). And even though I didn’t really get into it as much as some people, the game is still beloved by many people for its story, and for just being so unique.

Well today, amidst rumours that Atlus was going to bring back a popular PS3 title, it’s been revealed via a Famitsu article that Catherine is that game, being remade as Catherine: Full Body for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. The game’s official Japanese site also announced that Atlus will be hosting a livestream event on December 22nd, which will also most likely have the game’s trailer.

Among the changes to the game will be a new character, Rin, who is a pianist at the bar the game’s protagonist, Vincent, regularly frequents. Catherine: Full Body will also come with new endings, a new episode to play through, and a couple of new play mechanics. There will also be online battles as well. The game will have cross-save support with the PS4 and Vita.

It’s been a while since I’ve played the game, so perhaps this new version will speak to me more than the original. I guess we’ll find out December 22nd just what’s in store.
