UPDATE: Look what just showed up: residentevil2.com. Could be a joke, could be legit.
Okay, it’s official: Capcom is messing with us.
With the 20th anniversary of Resident Evil 2 right around the corner (January 21st), and Capcom dropping hints of something happening, we now have Capcom’s official Development Team 1 Twitter account playing around.
Over on the account, the folks behind it have been messing around with the mannequin finger USB key from the Collector’s Edition of Resident Evil 7 by taking pictures in and around Japan with the finger lying somewhere in the picture (because that’s what you do with stuff like this). Anyways, one such picture caught the attention of some fans, who posited that the finger wasn’t the main focus.
Good morning, everyone! (from the U.S.) Hope you all have a good day!:) pic.twitter.com/g8OQ94ju2D

In case you’re wondering, that indeed looks like the corner of a typewriter, which was the series mainstay for saving your progress until RE 5 came around. Now again, take this all with a huge grain of salt. The team could simply be screwing with us, and decided to be artsy with something on a desk in hopes of playing with fans. On the other hand, if you put your conspiracy glasses on, why would they hide the rest of the typewriter instead of showing it in its entirety? Or better yet, why would they even include the typewriter in the first place?
Never did I think I couldn’t wait for Monday to roll around.
