There’s new blood set to tackle a Nergigante on the big screen as Hellboy himself joins the cast of Resident Evil director Paul W.S. Anderson’s film based on Capcom’s Monster Hunter video game franchise.
The $60 Million movie begins shooting in South Africa next month and Ron Perlman joins Milla Jovovich on the cast list.
Perlman will play a character called Admiral, leader of a monster hunting group. He’s not the only new addition as Rapper and Ant-Man actor T.I. Harris has signed on to play a sniper named Link.
Having Ron Perlman in your monster movie is a safe bet. He’s easily the best thing about the likes of Alien Ressurection, Hellboy, and Pacific Rim so he’s bound to bring that grizzled wiseass charm to this film.
Director Paul W.S. Anderson, of course, has plenty of experience with Capcom property, having turned survival horror series Resident Evil into a multi-million dollar film franchise that also starred Jovovich.
The Monster Hunter franchise is in rude health right now as Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate have been successful releases for Capcom this year on home consoles.
