Getting insight into the making of a classic game is always welcome. Nowadays there’s lots of behind the scenes videos and anecdotes from developers before the game is even launched, but it wasn’t always that open.
Ed Boon, the man behind many gore-soaked memories with the Mortal Kombat series, recently shared some rare behind the scenes footage of 1995’s Mortal Kombat 3.
The footage, which Boon shared on Twitter courtesy of Neogamer, shows the actors who would go on to be motion-captured for the full game, in full costume on the set. There’s lots of posing, goofing off, and replication of in-game moves to see in the 2 minute plus video.
Gaze upon Jax’s painted-on cyber arms for they are glorious.
It isn’t the first time we’ve had a peek behind the curtain in the Mortal Kombat series. Previously footage emerged from the original Mortal Kombat‘s motion capture work.
It’s nice to have a look back at the franchise’s past with Mortal Kombat 11 seemingly next on the horizon for Boon and company at Netherrealm Studios.
