‘MediEvil’ on PS4 is Confirmed to be a Full Remake, Will Get a New Trailer on Halloween

MediEvil‘s 20th Birthday came and went without any new information on Sir Daniel Fortesque’s PS4 debut. Happily, Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios chairman Shawn Layden has since confirmed that MediEvil on PS4 will be getting a brand new trailer on October 31st (and hopefully a release date).

Layden was discussing the game on the PlayStation Blogcast, and beyond the trailer announcement itself, he gave up a few more tidbits of information.

Firstly, he stresses that this is very much a remake of the original game, and secondly, he reveals Other Ocean Interactive is developing it.

Layden said the following on the Blogcast, ” I think there have been some words that might sound alike but mean different things—like remake and remaster. This is a remake. We’ve taken the original game design and we’ve taken a lot of the key art, and some of the other attributes of the game design and ethos, if you will, and we’re working with a developer called Other Ocean Interactive, and they are remaking MediEvil and that design—the original MediEvil from PS1. The original one—the one that I worked on.”

Layden goes on to note that some of the team that worked on the original are returning for this remake in a bid to keep the spirit of what made it such an endearing title. He follows that with, ”On Halloween, please get to a streaming video point near you and check it out.” Thus confirming the trailer.

So keep an eye out on Wednesday for a first proper look at the MediEvil remake in action!
