[R.I.P.] Original ‘The Fly’ Star David Hedison Has Passed Away at 92

Long before Jeff Goldblum became The Fly for David Cronenberg, it was David Hedison who originated the role back in 1958. Sadly, we’ve learned that Hedison has passed away.

Hedison starred in the original version of The Fly as scientist André Delambre, the film telling the story of how his experiments went wrong and turned him into a man-fly hybrid.

Other notable acting roles included Son of Robin Hood and “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.”

Deadline reports that Hedison died peacefully on July 18th at the age of 92.

The actor’s family said in a statement, “Even in our deep sadness, we are comforted by the memory of our wonderful father. He loved us all dearly and expressed that love every day. He was adored by so many, all of whom benefitted from his warm and generous heart. Our dad brought joy and humor wherever he went and did so with great style.”
