‘Censor’ Heads Back to 1985 and Centers on a Video Nasty!

Prano Bailey-Bond will be making her directorial debut with the psychological horror Censor, which is now shooting in the UK, writes Deadline.

“The film follows a woman who, in her job as a film censor, discover an eerily familiar horror film that speaks directly to her past.”

Bloody Disgusting was able to score some early art and learned that the film takes place in 1985: “After viewing a strangely familiar video nasty, Enid, a film censor, sets out to solve the past mystery of her sister’s disappearance, embarking on a quest that dissolves the line between fiction and reality.”

Rising UK actress Niamh Algar is starring as the censor with Sophia La Porta and Michael Smiley.

The film is produced by Helen Jones of Silver Salt Films.

Backing came from the BFI, Ffilm Cymru Wales and Film4. Protagonist Pictures is handling sales on the title after recently selling out on UK horror Saint Maud, which was also a debut.
