This Family’s Awesome Halloween Yard Display Pays Tribute to ‘Elm Street’ and ‘Pet Sematary’!

Located in the West Suburbs of Chicago, the Wilkes Family has become known over the years for their elaborate Halloween yard displays, and they’ve now taken to their official Wilkes Family Halloween Displays Facebook page to share this year’s display. For Halloween 2019, the family drew inspiration from A Nightmare on Elm Street and Pet Sematary!

The family explains, “For over 20 years, our family has been putting together elaborate Halloween displays at our home in the West Suburbs of Chicago. Our themes are never repeated and each year we continue to make the display better and better. In 2013, we moved to Bensenville, Illinois, where our displays have grown to the point that we’ve received a lot of recognition. We wanted to create a space where we can share our past displays and what we’re working on for the future.

This year’s Elm Street display includes an awesome nod to the iconic “Welcome to primetime, bitch!” death scene from Dream Warriors, and the Wilkes family even recreated Johnny Depp’s death scene from Wes Craven’s original film. They rigged up a “blood waterfall” and constructed a bed around it, making it look like blood is shooting up out of the mattress.

As for the Pet Sematary display, it’s got nods to both the 1989 adaptation of Stephen King’s novel as well as this year’s adaptation. Of course, they recreated the iconic sign as well.

While you wait for Alien: Romulus, the folks over at Devilworks have cooked up their own slice of “mockbuster” fun with Alien Hunt, and we’re debuting the trailer here on BD this morning.

This brand-new sci-fi horror from director Aaron Mirtes (The Bigfoot Trap, Painted in Blood) is set for its US premiere on May 14, and you can find it on digital thanks to Devilworks.

You can exclusively watch the official trailer for Alien Hunt below, which looks to combine elements of Alien and Predator. This particular “mockbuster” has very little interest in hiding its inspirations, with the alien designs plucked straight out of H.R. Giger’s beautiful brain. Hey, if you’re going to pull from other movies, might as well take from the all-time greats!

In Alien Hunt, “On a hunting trip in the wilderness, a group of siblings discovers an abandoned military outpost on their land, but is it what it seems?

“Their trip takes a sinister turn when they find themselves facing off against a relentless army of extra-terrestrial beings. Suddenly, the hunters become the hunted.

“The formidable squad of alien soldiers will stop at nothing to wipe out the enemy and in an all-out, brutal battle for survival, it’s kill or be killed in Alien Hunt.”
