Most horror fans are by now aware that George A. Romero *almost* directed a feature film adaptation of the Resident Evil video games in the late ’90s. To make a long story short, Romero’s script was more faithful to the games and would’ve resulted in more of a straight-up horror movie than the frenetic, action-heavy film Paul W.S Anderson ended up making.
Alas, of course, that particular movie never saw the light of day.
Romero’s Resident Evil script has been floating around the internet for many years now, and the folks over at The Pod and the Pendulum Podcast have gotten their hands on it. To help us all pass the time while we’re stuck at home with not much else to do but distract ourselves, they’re hosting a live table reading of Romero’s unused script tonight, April 22nd at 7pm EST.
