‘You Are Not My Mother’ Trailer Teases Eerie Irish Folk Horror

Published

on

From Magnet Releasing and writer/director Kate Dolan, You Are Not My Mother is coming to theaters and On Demand on March 25, 2022, and the official trailer has arrived.

In the eerie Irish folk horror film…

“It’s the week before Halloween. Char’s bedridden mother, Angela, has mysteriously gone missing. All that remains is her abandoned car parked in the middle of a field. When Angela returns home to their North Dublin estate the following evening without explanation, it becomes clear to Char and her grandmother, Rita, that something is amiss. She might look and sound the same, but Angela’s behavior has become increasingly erratic and frightening, as if she has been replaced by a malevolent force. As Halloween approaches, a night steeped in ancient Irish myth and legend, Char must unearth the dark secrets of her family in order to uncover the truth behind her mother’s disappearance and save her, even if it means potentially losing her forever.”

Dolan’s feature debut premiered last year at the Toronto International Film Festival. Our own Joe Lipsett reviewed the film out of the fest, calling the Halloween-set folk horror “an assured, confident and exciting debut.”

You Are Not My Mother stars Hazel Doupe and Carolyn Bracken. Watch the trailer below.

Zack Snyder’s two-part sci-fi epic Rebel Moon is now streaming in full on Netflix, with last year’s Part One: A Child of Fire followed by this year’s Part Two: The Scargiver.

But the Rebel Moon saga is far from over, because Zack Snyder’s Director’s Cuts of both movies are coming to Netflix. And they’re said to each be around ONE HOUR LONGER.

Of particular note, the Rebel Moon Director’s Cuts will be rated “R,” promising the bloody violence that wasn’t found in the PG-13 versions of the two movies currently on Netflix.

For starters, Rebel Moon – Part One: Director’s Cut has been rated “R” for…

“Brutal bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity and language.”

We don’t yet have a release date for these Director’s Cuts. Stay tuned.

From Zack Snyder, the filmmaker behind 300, Man of Steel, and Army of the Dead, comes Rebel Moon, an epic science-fantasy event decades in the making.

As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.
