Wired Productions, LKA Announces Film Adaptation of ‘Martha is Dead’ With Studios Extraordinaires

Published

LKA and Wired Productions’ 2022 psychological horror title Martha is Dead will be making the leap to film, thanks to Swedish film-production company Studios Extraordinaires. The adaptation is being developed in close collaboration with Luca Dalcò, Founder and Director of LKA, and the Creator of Martha Is Dead, with André Hedetoft and Andreas Troedsson attached as co-directors. Alongside directing, Hedetoft will also be penning the script, with Troedsson also taking on the role of cinematographer.

“Every element of Martha Is Dead was created with extraordinary precision and care. The narrative’s complexity was meticulously planned, visualized, and even shaped with a cinematic quality in mind,” says Luca Dalcò. “Bringing this to life as a film is a dream come true.”

Martha Is Dead is a narrative masterpiece, expertly weaving a spellbinding murder mystery from a young woman’s perspective in a way that’s never been done before,” say André and Andreas at Studios Extraordinaires. “We’re eager to bring this haunting tale to life, offering both fans and newcomers a cinematic tour-de-force, while staying true to the game’s soul-stirring essence.”

Martha is Dead isn’t the only adaptation Studios Extraordinaires is working on. They’ve also been attached to adaptations for Fallen Leaf’s Fort Solis, as well as Graewolv’s upcoming horror shooter VEIL.

Martha is Dead is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam (read Harrison’s take on the game here).

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
