Thanks to our fine friends at NEON, Bloody Disgusting is beyond thrilled to give their Midwestern fans a very early chance to see Osgood Perkins‘ delectably violent Stephen King adaptation The Monkey! Even better, the maestro behind the madness will be there in person!

Join us this Saturday, February 8th at 9:00 PM for an exclusive screening and a post-film Q&A with Osgood Perkins at Chicago’s historic Music Box Theatre (3733 N Southport Ave). This is one of the most anticipated horror movies of the year, so plan to arrive early as seats aren’t guaranteed. This is first come, first serve.

The hype is real and the beat is strong with this monkey’s drum. Within the first 24 hours, the recent red band trailer passed 43 million views and hit 100 million in the first 72 hours, which Deadline cited as “arguably a record for a non-MPA studio independent horror movie.” So, once again, act accordingly and RSVP NOW.

A horror-comedy adaptation of Stephen King’s same-titled short story, The Monkey arrives in theaters on February 21, 2025, and you can watch NEON’s Red Band trailer below.

The film’s new poster (below) promises an “outrageously gory” and “thoroughly gratuitous” experience, with instruments of death including a harpoon gun, a bowling ball, a shotgun, a hibachi knife, a lawnmower, and even a stampede of wild horses. Yeah, Osgood Perkins is letting his hair down with this one, going as brutally bonkers as an “R” rating will allow.

From NEON and producer James WanThe Monkey has indeed been rated “R” for “Strong bloody violent content, gore, language throughout, and some sexual references.”

In The Monkey, “When twin brothers find a mysterious wind-up monkey, a series of outrageous deaths tear their family apart. Twenty-five years later, the monkey begins a new killing spree forcing the estranged brothers to confront the cursed toy.”

The Monkey is a short horror story that appeared in King’s Skeleton Crew, a 1985 collection that also featured The Mist, The Jaunt, The Raft, Survivor Type, The Reach, and more.

Theo James (“The White Lotus”), Tatiana Maslany (SheHulkAttorney at Law), Elijah Wood (Maniac), Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth), Colin O’Brien (Wonka), Rohan Campbell (Halloween Ends) and Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek) star in this one.
