Bruce Campbell had made it very clear after “Ash vs. Evil Dead” was cancelled that he was retired from playing Ash Williams, with the franchise moving beyond the iconic character in recent installments Evil Dead Rise, Evil Dead Burn, and the upcoming Evil Dead Wrath.
While he was done with playing Ash in the world of live action, however, Campbell had been leaving the door open to the idea of voicing Ash in an Evil Dead animated project.
That door, it seems, has now been closed as well.
Campbell tells Screen Rant in a new chat, “Ash is done. [I am] not going to do any animated voice work. [They] can get Joe Ash soundalike. There are ways to [recreate my voice] now.”
No word yet on whether or not any sort of animated Evil Dead project will be moving forward, with or without Bruce Campbell, as we haven’t heard any updates on that for a while now.
But it seems Bruce Campbell has ended his direct involvement with the franchise both in front of as well as behind the camera, choosing to focus on other life and career aspirations.
