‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ Happened and We Still Don’t Know How [Halloweenies Podcast]

Ash Vs Evil Dead

In October 2015, two decades after Army of Darkness and only two short years after the franchise had been seemingly rebooted, Ashley Williams (Bruce Campell) returned to the saw with Starz’ Ash vs. Evil Dead. To everyone’s surprise — deadites, included — the genre-defying series managed to last not one, not two, but three whole seasons.

It was one hell of a groovy ride, too: There was ’70s rock for days, familiar faces returned (including one iconic sister), the gore was gross, the humor relentless, great times. But, more importantly, the series completely expanded the universe, introducing fan favorite heroes in Dana DeLorenzo‘s Kelly Maxwell and Ray Santiago‘s Pablo Bolivar.

After being dragged to Hell, the Halloweenies are back on track and returning to the woods to saw through all three seasons of the underrated series. Together, they discuss the evolution (or often de-evolution) of Ash Williams, the pros and cons of streaming vs. weekly watches, the showrunner shakeups, and, you guessed it, 2005’s Kojak.

Stream the episode below or subscribe via iTunes/Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, RadioPublic, Acast, Google Podcasts, and RSS. New to the Halloweenies? Catch up with the gang by revisiting their essential episodes on past franchises such as Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Scream.

You can also become a member of their Patreon, The Rewind, for hilariously irreverent commentaries (e.g. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Gremlins, Child’s Play) and one-off deep dives on your favorite rentals (e.g. Saw, 28 Days Later, Manhunter, Near Dark). Each month promises something new and unexpected from the wildest corners of the genre.

True Crime Podcast ‘Murder In America’ Heads Overseas for New Miniseries [Bloody FM]

After becoming the 4th most popular true crime podcast in the U.S. on Spotify, and 17th most popular overall, Bloody FM’s Murder In America is taking listeners overseas with their new miniseries, “Murdered Americans.”

Hosts Colin and Courtney Browen will discuss some of the most infamous crimes that have happened to Americans in world history, from the satanic cult murder of college student Mark Kilroy, the death of 7 year old Nicholas Green at the hands of the Italian mafia, and the rise of ISIS hitman Jihadi John.

“We’ve wanted to cover stories that took place outside of America for years,” said co-host Courtney Browen, “but until now we haven’t been able to, obviously, because of the name and typical content of our show. But given this freedom to explore any story we want, that happened anywhere in the world, is freeing.

“It’s given us the opportunity to really tell some stories that we are passionate about. This is really exciting.”

You can listen to the first two episodes of the new miniseries NOW!
