Grady Hendrix Explores Haunted House History with ‘Super Scary Haunted Homeschool’ Podcast
New York Times bestselling horror author Grady Hendrix (My Best Friend’s Exorcism, The Southern Book Club’s Guide To Slaying Vampires) has revived his Super Scary Haunted Homeschool podcast for a second season.
What started during the pandemic as a one-man history of horror has expanded with the addition of WNUF Halloween Special filmmaker Chris LaMartina as director, along with actors, musicians, and sound engineers.
While the first season traced the history of vampires, from disgusting Serbian corpses to sparkling hottie teens, Season 2 is all about haunted houses. The first three episodes are streaming now, with new installments dropping monthly.
“We’re releasing one episode per month as we tell the story of haunted houses, from their beginnings in ancient Greece to their modern incarnation on reality TV,” Hendrix explains. “Along the way, we’re talking about the Victorian fad for Christmas ghost stories, the Scamityville Horror, and ghost sex. Also: what is EMF and why won’t ghosthunters shut up about it?”
Super Scary Haunted Homeschool is streaming on all major podcast platforms.
Several adaptations of Hendrix works are in various stages of development: Horrorstör at Searchlight, Ankle Snatcher at Sony, The Blanks at Netflix, The Southern Book Club’s Guide To Slaying Vampires at HBO, How to Sell a Haunted House at Legendary, and BadAsstronauts at Paramount.
