[Comic Review] “Divinity” #4 Ends The Epic Odyssey
Reviewed by Brady Steele. Divinity #4 ends this epic odyssey. Omnipotent astronaut Abram Adams came back searching for what he left behind on Earth twenty-seven years earlier. The Valiant Universe tries furiously to contain an unknown variable more powerful than anyone on the planet. All of this makes for greater storytelling herein and more to come in the future.
WRITTEN BY: Matt Kindt
ART BY: Trevor Hairsine
PUBLISHER: Valiant Entertainment
PRICE: $3.99
RELEASE: 27 May 2015
This is one series that has been thoroughly crafted and designed from the concept to this final issue. The power Divinity has put on display is truly frightening and innovative at the same time. Writer Matt Kindt seems to have only scratched the surface with the potential Abram Adams displayed so far. Unity, the Valiant Universe’s top team, were initially swept away with minimal effort by Divinity. The skillful way that both sides walk away from this tilt without looking weak is an attack through his heart. Readers finally see how human and delicate even all-powerful characters can be.
Once again, artist Trevor Hairsine conveys heart, menace and scope effortlessly in this final chapter. The emotion shown in Abrams’ family reunion. The ache in the eyes and aged faces. The spectacle of battling four of the most dangerous characters at once. The futility of the actions taken. It’s all so striking to look at.
Thankfully, there are lasting repercussions coming out of this series. No one lost but no one really won either. Divinity let his foes think they won the day. Not only those, but the followers of Divinity are rising so the imagination begins to wonder how much power will the people have without their leader? Again, this series makes you think about so many different things all at the same time every time you read and re-read it.
The extra pages and insight from writer Kindt at the end of the story only enhance the overall experience of the entire miniseries. We are assured that there is more Divinity to come this year which is magnificent news. I’m eager to see how this mighty character will interact with the other power players touring around the Valiant Universe. This series established something new, potent and potentially dangerous into their world. I can’t wait to see where they take him next.

‘Curse of the Where Wolf’ Bites Into August Release With Trio of Werewolf Theatrical Screenings [Exclusive Preview]
Larry Chaney‘s hairy misadventures are continuing in the sequel graphic novel Curse of the Where Wolf from creative team Rob Saucedo, Debora Lancianese, and Jack Morelli, and its author is celebrating with a trio of horror’s greatest werewolf films.
The Curse of the Where Wolf hits shelves on August 7 from Encyclopocalypse Publications.
That coincides with the launch of a theatrical screening event in Houston, Texas, featuring a trio of seminal werewolf flicks turning 45 this year: The Howling on August 7, Wolfen on August 14, and An American Werewolf in London on August 21.
Each screening features a “werewolf in film” presentation as well as a book signing from Where Wolf author and River Oaks Theatre artistic director Rob Saucedo.
In the new graphic novel, “Being a werewolf sucks. Reporter Larry Chaney wanted to be a hero. Instead, he became a werewolf. Now, caught between incredible new powers and a desire to eat everything (and everyone) in sight, Larry must find a cure for his curse. Or die trying.”
“With Where Wolf, I wanted to tell a whodunit set in a furry convention, so the story was pretty contained within a very specific setting and genre. With Curse of the Where Wolf, I wanted to celebrate everything I love about the possibility of comic books. Curse of the Where Wolf is a funny book, in every sense of the phrase, but it’s also an earnest look at a person’s struggle to become a better version of themselves, especially when the alternative is to become a literal monster,” Saucedo says of Curse.
The original graphic novel was previously serialized as the first webcomic hosted on Fangoria before being collected by Encyclopocalypse Publications in 2023 and has already been optioned for film, podcast, and television development ahead of launch by producers James Fino (“The Freak Brothers” for Tubi, “Rick and Morty” for Adult Swim) and Charles Horak (First Date for Magnolia Pictures).
Expect Larry to find himself in even weirder situations in the 362-page full color sequel; Saucedo has provided Bloody Disgusting with exclusive art pages from the upcoming graphic novel that showcase lupine humor.
