Man Takes Photos in Stanley Hotel: Possibly Captures Ghosts
Henry Yau is, according to his Instagram profile, the “publicist and spokesman for America’s No. 1 Children’s Museum”, which is the Children’s Museum of Houston, TX. He’s also now becoming an internet star thanks to some photos he took at the Stanley Hotel, which is located in Estes Park, Colorado. The photos reveal a pair of ghostly figures at the top of the grand stairwell within the hotel.
When asked in Spanish if the photo was taken in the dark, Yau responded, “no a oscuras. Ni siquiera la vi en el momento. Me di cuenta al siguiente día cuando estaba revisando las fotos.” Roughly translated through Google, the response says, “not dark. Even I saw at the time. I realized the next day when I was reviewing the photos.” Yau also told Click2Houston.com, “When I took it, I didn’t notice anything.”
Horror fans will know this hotel as it served as the inspiration for Stephen King’s The Shining. The hotel fully embraces its status as “being haunted” and even offers a Ghost Tours.
The site even has a history page about its supernatural denizens, with this particular excerpt explaining about two of its “eternal guests”:
Chief amongst the hotel’s eternal guests are F.O. and Flora Stanley who continue to go about the business of running their beloved establishment as though they were still alive; Flora’s antique Steinway can be heard playing in the dead of night and Mr. Stanley has been captured in photographs surveying the goings-on in the Billiards Room, once his favorite place.
You can look at the photos below to get an idea for yourself The first shows the stairwell with loads of lights on while the second is darker and a tad more ominous. The second photos shows the purported spirits.

‘A Man in the Woods With an Axe’ – First Look at ’80s Throwback Slasher [Exclusive]
We have an exclusive first look at A Man in the Woods With an Axe, a blood-soaked, genre-twisting homage to 1980s slasher films.
Spanning four decades, A Man in the Woods With an Axe begins in the summer of 1987 before pushing into the modern era, weaving together timelines and perspectives in a way that builds both dread and intrigue.
Drawing inspiration from genre standouts like Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, Hatchet, and The Cabin in the Woods, the film blends visceral horror with moments of dark humor, creating a uniquely balanced experience that honors tradition while carving its own identity.
Writer-director Dillon Brown (Primal Darkness) aims to deliver everything fans crave from a slasher while boldly subverting expectations with a mid-film twist that redefines the story.
“This is an unapologetic love letter to the films that made me fall in love with horror,” Brown tells Bloody Disgusting. “But I didn’t just want to recreate that feeling; I wanted to challenge it. About halfway through, the film takes a turn that completely changes how you view not only this story, but the genre itself.”
Brown describes the vintage-inspired production as “far and away the bloodiest film I’ve ever made,” with practical effects helmed by Cody Ruch (The Mill, Pig Hill), an instructor at Tom Savini’s Special Make-Up Effects Program.
From Horror Dadz Productions, A Man in the Woods With an Axe is currently in production and targeting an early 2027 release.
