Guy Builds Giger-Inspired “Biomechanical Axe”

I love to watch people who work with their hands build or craft something that they’re passionate about. It’s very relaxing and puts me in an almost meditative state.

That’s a big reason why I enjoy the YouTube channel MichaelCthulhu, which follows Michael Craughwell, a guy who makes big weapons, often based on video games. However, today he posted a gigantic axe that is themed after the works of H.R. Giger, the man who created the Xenomorph from Alien and Sil from Species. Dubbed the “Biomechanaxe”, the weapon looks just like the name implies, a bio-mechanical axe that is straight from the dreams of Giger himself.

The really interesting thing about how Craughwell works is that he rarely if ever uses a forge (I’ve only seen him do it once and it was a makeshift thing he whipped up). Instead, he welds and grinds everything together into one solid, nigh-well unbreakable slab of metal. Additionally, he doesn’t shy away from taking his time nor does he use super fast edits and cuts to make a short video. Watching one of his clips is an investment but it pays off seeing how everything starts and eventually comes together.

You can watch the build below!
