Vinegar Syndrome Keeps the Blaxploitation Coming in July!

Vinegar Syndrome, one of the leaders in physical media home entertainment, continues their string of Blaxploitation releases to follow up Dolemite and The Human Tornado. On July 26th you’ll be able to pick up Petey Wheatstraw and The Candy Tangerine Man on Blu-ray. And if that’s not enough, both releases are packed with extras and The Candy Tangerine Man even includes a bonus movie in Lady Cocoa! It is indeed a good time to be alive!

Petey Wheatstraw (1977)

Rudy Ray Moore is Petey Wheatstraw, whose talent for comedy is only topped by his gift for Kung-Fu. When his arch rivals, Leroy and Skillet, massacre him and his friends, Petey ends up in Hell and is given a unique opportunity: in exchange for his and his friends’ return to earth, he must wed Satan’s daughter. The only problem: she’s the ugliest woman he’s ever seen! Will Petey be able to defeat Satan with his magic pimp cane or will he be forced to become the Devil’s son-in-law?
Rudy Ray Moore’s third theatrical feature, PETEY WHEATSTRAW is a raucous and ridiculous blending of action, horror, and Moore’s signature brand of raunchy humor. Written and directed by Cliff Roquemore, PETEY is perhaps the craziest of all of Moore’s films. Vinegar Syndrome is proud to bring this classic to Blu-ray for the first time, newly restored in 2k from its original 35mm camera negative.

The Candy Tangerine Man (1974) & Lady Cocoa (1975)

One of the most diverse of all genre filmmakers, whose career included everything from horror to family films, Vinegar Syndrome presents two of Matt Cimber’s most important blaxploitation classics on Blu-ray for the very first time.
John Daniels is ‘The Baron,’ a no-nonsense pimp who cruises the streets in his signature tangerine Rolls Royce. Taking on rival pimps, pushers, and the man, Baron uses his cunning intelligence to elude the authorities in Matt Cimber’s grim and subversive look at the violent underbelly of Los Angeles crime and corruption. A favorite film of Quentin Tarantino and Samuel L. Jackson, Vinegar Syndrome proudly presents THE CANDY TANGERINE MAN in its Blu-ray debut.
Lola Falana is LADY COCOA, in Matt Cimber’s classic 1975 crime thriller. After being given a 24-hour leave from prison, in exchange for which she’ll agree to testify against her mobster boyfriend, Cocoa hits the streets, but quickly discovers that violence lurks around every corner. Co-starring Millie Perkins and George Flower, Lady Cocoa is a non-stop thrill ride of revenge.
