The 80’s was an awesome decade and I’m going to standby that statement until the day I die. It had awesome music, great movies, and the fashion, while cringeworthy in some regards, is actually rather charming and in retrospect a lot of fun!
I am a child of the 80’s, having been born in 1984. I grew up with Saturday morning cartoons, Batman, Garbage Pail Kids trading cards, and an Apple computer that I used to play Dark Castle on. And, as mentioned above, I enjoyed some truly awesome movies, ones that were fiercely original, wearing their bizarreness on their sleeves. Movies like Ghostbusters, Robocop, Back to the Future, and more were all films that embraced the idea of giving the audience something they could never have but making them okay with it. After all, we didn’t have time travel or spooks haunting our streets at the time.
The folk over at Smash TV have decided that they need to put something together that celebrates the energy and excitement that the 80’s (and early to mid 90’s, although there’s not as much from here) had to offer. What resulted is a video that’s almost an hour and a half of classic clips that all play into one another, featuring, “…thousands of cuts from more than 80 movies.”
Now, I have to warn you that there are bare breasts in the video, so let’s absolutely call it NSFW. But the moment you get home and get a chance to watch it, I highly recommend doing so! And if you can identify all the movies that are in the video, I’ll be supremely impressed!
Also, if you want to download the audio from the video, it’s been split into two parts: “Turbo” and “Beyond“.
