‘Blade Runner 2’ Composer Announced and People Are Loving It

Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2 is a sequel that is drawing all sorts of attention. While the 1982 Ridley Scott film didn’t receive a lot of love upon release, it has since become a cult classic and is hailed as one of the very best movies that the sci-fi genre has to offer. As a result, the amount of eyes on Villeneuve’s continuation is astronomical.

While casting announcements, such as Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, and, of course, Harrison Ford, have people excited, a new announcement yesterday created a large swell of support: Jóhann Jóhannsson has been locked down as the composer, according to The Verge. Known for his minimalistic yet evocative approach, Jóhannsson’s attachment to the film is the third time he’ll be working with Villeneuve, with the previous films being Sicario and the upcoming sci-fi film The Arrival.

The 1982 film was scored by Vangelis and is a beloved soundtrack that still lands on many “Best Of” lists.
