“Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” Gets Turned Into 3D Chalk Art [Halloween Treat]
My love of Schwartz & Gammell’s “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” knows no bounds. Full of terrifying imagery (I like to pretend that the new version doesn’t exist), the book was a huge part of why I grew to love horror as much as I today. The stories “The Big Toe”, “A New Horse”, “The Ghost with the Bloody Fingers”, and more all bore imagery and concepts that haunted my prepubescent dreams.
That’s why I was so excited when I saw that AWE me put up a video where they took the above image, which is perhaps the most iconic from the series, and translated it into a 3D chalk drawing! The video goes step-by-step, showing the outline, the coloring, the shading, and ultimately the final product. I’m sure Gammell would be very proud if he saw it!
