A Surprisingly Somber Trailer For ‘Logan’, the Latest ‘Wolverine’ Sequel

20th Century Fox has yet to get a Wolverine film right. The closest we got was his berserker sequence in X-Men 2, while Fox at one point had Darren Aronofsky pegged for an R-rated solo sequel. Growing up a huge fan of the Marvel character, I’ve now grown weary at any attempt, even though I actually loved the previous three X-Men films. Maybe this is the one they get right?

Logan is coming, and it takes place in the future where the title character (Hugh Jackman) is now old and presumably has a daughter with similar gifts. From the looks of this trailer, the little girl is on the run and Logan must protect her. Things eventually get uber violent. It’s a great trailer, except for the use of Hurt, which needs to be retired from commercial use.

The first synopsis was just sent over, which sheds some light on what’s going on in the trailer:

Set in the future of 2024, Logan and Professor Charles Xavier must cope with the loss of the X-Men when a corporation lead by Nathaniel Essex is destroying the world leaving it to destruction, with Logan’s healing abilities slowly fading away and Xavier’s Alzheimer’s forcing him to forget. Logan must defeat Nathaniel Essex with the help of a young girl named Laura Kinney, a female clone of Wolverine.

In theaters March 3, 2017 (happy birthday to me, indeed!), Logan stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Eriq La Salle, Elise Neal, and Elizabeth Rodriguez.
