LEGO Ideas Project Features Incredible Pop-Up Book Cemetery Scene

The LEGO Ideas page has generated some really interesting fan ideas, from yesterday’s post about a Gremlins set to the Addams Family mansion that is currently in the “In Review” stage of the process. Now a new project has come along and this one is really unique as it takes the LEGO concept and gives it a really unique twist!

One of the big things about LEGO sets is that once you build it, that’s kinda it. There might be some things that are interactable but overall the set doesn’t transform from one thing to another. I don’t know if there are new sets that actually transform entirely as I haven’t got a set in over 20 years but I peek in now and again and nothing has stood out.

That’s where Grant Davis and Jason Alleman’s LEGO Ideas project comes in and changes all that. They were inspired by pop-up books and wanted to have LEGO create a whole new line of them. The way it would work is that the set, when closed, would look just like a book. However, when you open it there will be mechanics in place that will pull the interior up and create a scene that is unique to the set. The best way to understand this is to watch the video below, which shows a “Tales From the Crypt” book open into a scene from a cemetery, complete with a ghost that pops in and out from a masoleum while a skeleton can “rise from its grave”.
