The BBC nature documentary Planet Earth II isn’t where I would expect to find one of the most tense and thrilling chase scenes I’ve ever witnessed but goddamn did it deliver just that. Forget Mad Max: Fury Road. Forget The Hitcher. Everyone, I want you to watch what happens when a lizard wanders into the wrong part of nature and finds itself face-to-face with a metric fuckton of snakes, all of whom are interested in devouring this creature.
I’m not joking when I say that I watched the 2-minute plus clip and found myself holding my breath. We often see cat-and-mouse situations in horror films but seeing it in real life, where a life really is on the line, made it all the more real and intense.
Planet Earth II is a six-episode documentary that is airing on the BBC. However, we in America won’t get to see it until it makes its debut on January 28th, so you might as well just sit back and enjoy three major holidays before we can hear David Attenborough’s soothing and wise voice.
