If you’ve ever been to Salem, Massachusetts and you’ve gone on any number of tourist trap tours, there’s a good chance you’re familiar with Judge Jonathan Curwin’s Witch House, one of the city’s most historic homes.
The all-black house, via Salem Web, “is the only structure still standing in Salem with direct ties to the Witchcraft Trials of 1692. As a local magistrate and civic leader, Corwin was called upon to investigate the claims of diabolical activity when a surge of witchcraft accusations arose in Salem and neighboring communities. He served on the Court of Oyer and Terminer, which ultimately sent nineteen to the gallows. All nineteen refused to admit to witchcraft and maintained their innocence.”

Author J.W. Ocker just brought to our attention that the faithful replica on 197 Wheeler Road is now up for sale, with a listed price of $650,000. The two story house was built in 1978, with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, and it sits on 4.36 acres of land.
“This reproduction of Judge Jonathan Curwin’s Witch House in Salem, MA has handmade finishes of 17th century construction & leaded windows. Reclaimed beams from a Milford, NH Baptist Church were used & hand notched in the open beam construction on the first floor and again in the master bedroom. The living room and family room have two LARGE wood burning fireplaces back-to-back with pot hooks. The master bedroom also has a HeatGlo gas insert, all part of the massive “Fluted” chimney. The kitchen has a Colonial spaciousness with many new updates including granite countertops, gas range and all new appliances. Off the kitchen is a formal dining room and sunroom with an 8 person hot tub and door to large deck for entertaining.
