We recently told you that UK park Alton Towers is getting the world’s first wood and fire coaster with Wicker Man, based on the ’73 film – or the Nic Cage one, if you prefer.
The park teases…
Standing at 57.57ft (17.55m) tall – the height of a six-story building – the ride will dominate the very center of Alton Towers Resort, appearing to burst into flames as the wooden track races three separate times through the structure.
Via Burton Mail today, we’ve got the first images from the UK’s first wood coaster to be built in over 20 years, which is set for its grand opening this coming Spring.
The site explains, “The new dramatic images reveal the six-story creation featuring a giant human face on one side and a ram’s head on the other. The structure then appears to burst into flames as coaster riders race through its chest. Before boarding the ride, visitors will learn about the world of the Beornen, a secret community living in the woods that surround Alton, the village next to the park. Guests will be chosen to take part in the pre-show before braving the ride itself.”
“Every ride will see 24 passengers per time experience the new roller coaster, with two trains, each made up of six wooden carriages, being on the track at one time.”
