Katsuhiro Otomo’s 1988 animated adaptation of Akira is one of the boldest and most memorable representations of cyberpunk to be found in media, and it’d be foolish to think that hasn’t had at least a small hand in the creation of CD Projekt Red’s next big thing, Cyberpunk 2077.
