These Retired Wisconsin Police Officers Shifted from Busting Criminals to Busting Ghosts

Two former police officers, Jason Bertram and Scott Tim, along with Bertram’s wife Michelle Bertram and colleague Amanda Halzer joined forces to create what may likely be the first paranormal investigative team ever spawned from the justice field.

The pair formed the team, Paranormal of Wisconsin or P.O.W., after Bertram retired from the police force due to a severe spinal injury received in a car crash. Longing to return to investigation and a lifelong fan of shows like “Ghost Hunters,” a new hobby as a paranormal investigator seemed a perfect fit.

Operating as a non-profit organization, Bertram believes his team is especially well suited to the task of ghost hunting because unlike other groups that chomp at the bit to the point where almost everything is evidence, his P.O.W. brings a “patrol mind” and “a professionalism” based on he and Tim’s 25 years of experience on the force.

As Jason Bertram explained to Madison Magazine, “Ghost hunting is very exciting for us. We have seen and heard some pretty spectacular things at the invitation of the public into their homes or businesses. We are there to provide a service free of charge. Because how do you charge for something like this?

Paranormal of Wisconsin’s adventures can be followed through Facebook.
