THE HOUSES OCTOBER BUILT

From director Bobby Roe, the 2014 found footage film The Houses October Built takes you on a journey through several actual haunted attractions, a blend of documentary and narrative feature that sees a group of friends stumbling into a real nightmare on the road to finding the ultimate haunted house attraction. The team behind the movie clearly has a passion for these types of attractions, and this year they’ve launched their own haunted house directory.

“We found after shooting in the haunt world for the past 12 years, people needed a first-class directory and community as a way to showcase haunts,” The Houses October Built director Bobby Roe explains to Bloody Disgusting. “We wanted a site that was a love letter to Halloween and haunted houses the way The Houses October Built was and continues to be.”

It’s called Haunt Society, billed as “the world’s most comprehensive haunted house directory.” The directory allows you to find haunted attractions near you, either through searching by state or via zip code. Once you enter your zip code, a handy map will be automatically pulled up that pinpoints all of the local haunted attractions you can find in your area this Halloween.

The press release explains, “Known for their film series The Houses October Built, Zack Andrews and Bobby Roe have traveled across the globe and experienced over 100 Halloween haunted houses over the last 15 years – witnessing first-hand the magnificent haunt community up close professionally and personally.

“Whether you are looking for a haunted house, work at a haunted house, or own a haunted house, we want this to be your resource from a brand and people that love and respect the haunt universe. Allotting only 6 spots per state, the site already has several of the best haunted houses already part of the Haunt Society.”

As part of the launch celebration, Haunt Society will be giving away one of the highly coveted 12-foot skeletons from Home Depot. To enter, follow @HauntSociety on Instagram and tag your two favorite haunts under the skeleton picture. More details in the video below.
