Ecto Cooler Will Be Making a Limited Return for ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’… But Not for Purchase [Video]

Published

on

Remember when Ecto Cooler made its triumphant return to store shelves for Ghostbusters back in 2016? Well the beloved pop culture beverage is also coming back to life as a tie-in with Jason Reitman’s brand new movie Ghostbusters: Afterlife… in a much more limited capacity.

The official Hi-C account just tweeted a fun retro-style commercial for Ecto Cooler tonight, teasing that Ecto Cooler has “escaped from the vault for an exclusive commemorative drop.”

What exactly does that mean? The tweet also teases, “While this won’t be available for purchase, show us the💚@DrinkHiC & @Ghostbusters & you may get slimed!”

In other words, you won’t find Ecto Cooler on any store shelves this year. Rather, the brand will likely be sending a limited number of bottles out to fans on a promotional basis.

So tweet out those green hearts and hey… ya never know!

The citrus-flavored drink first made its appearance in 1987 as a tie-in with the animated series “The Real Ghostbusters” and due to its immense popularity, it continued until 2001. Slimer left the box art around 1997, however, and even 2016’s version of the drink was Slimer-less. But it looks like Slimer is back on the label for this particular Ghostbusters: Afterlife revival.
