Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group, the world’s largest Halloween-themed entertainment company, is bringing spooky terror nationwide this Halloween season with a massive lineup of attractions and events that span multiple states across the country.

This year’s lineup is loaded with brand new add-ons and experiences as well as returning favorites, with highlights including Shaqtoberfest aboard the haunted Queen Mary in Long Beach, California, which returns for its second Halloween season.

Shaqtoberfest is a large-scale Halloween festival featuring a wide variety of horror-themed attractions and interactive experiences that capture Shaquille O’Neal’s beloved personality. The staple of Shaqtoberfest resides in its arrangement of distinct zones for guests to explore. Within each zone, an assortment of bone-chilling activities awaits.

Additionally, the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, taking over Griffith Park in Los Angeles, California from September 22 through Halloween.

Celebrating the Haunted Hayride’s 15th anniversary, Thirteenth Floor is significantly updating the experience to keep longtime fans on their toes this Halloween season. New additions to this year’s show include brand-new wagons with seating options, updated effects, several new horror scenes, all-new add-on experiences, and a new maze titled Hellbilly Halloween.

DELUSION, the gold standard of horror theater, also returns to Los Angeles this year.

This year’s chilling narrative, “Nocturnes & Nightmares,” brings more to the Delusion saga than meets the eye. A mysterious figure, only identified as The Author, seemingly birthed every Delusion story from its inception—bringing words to life and ink to reality. But when is a gift not a gift? Now, with the elusive author missing and Delusion characters hell-bent on protecting their creator, audiences (Delusionals) will need to track down The Author and help finish their most important work yet.

And for the first time ever, the popular Magic of the Jack O’Lanterns Experience comes to both Denver and Los Angeles for Halloween 2023.

From September 22nd through October 1st on select nights, Whittier Narrows Park in LA and The Hudson Gardens in Denver will be transformed into a larger-than-life pumpkin experience, featuring an awe-inspiring array of hand-carved jack-o’-lanterns, mesmerizing light displays, and a host of festive activities to delight adults and children alike.

And that’s only the beginning, as this year’s epic lineup from Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group brings the terror to Chicago, Texas, Phoenix, Jacksonville, Nashville and New Orleans!

From The Old Joliet Haunted Prison to House of Torment: Haunted Houses, Terror on the Fox, Nashville Nightmare, New Orleans Nightmare, and the world famous 13th Floor Haunted Houses in Denver, Houston, Chicago, San Antonio, Jacksonville, and Phoenix, it’ll be the most fun America has ever had being scared!

What does it mean to be a final girl? Can it really be as straightforward as staying alive until the sun rises? Picking up the knife, the machete, the abandoned gun and putting down the killer? Or is it something more? Could it mean stepping into a position of power and fighting for something larger than yourself? Or risking your life for the people you love? Could it be that anyone who bravely stands against an unstoppable force has final girl blood running through their veins?

Jennifer “Jade” Daniels has never seen herself as a final girl. When we first meet the teenage outcast in Stephen Graham JonesMy Heart is a Chainsaw, she’s lurking on the fringes of her her small town and educating her teachers about the slasher lore. She knows everything there is to know about this bloody subgenre, but it takes a deadly twist of fate to allow the hardened girl to see herself at the heart of the story. In Don’t Fear the Reaper, the weathered fighter returns to the small town of Proofrock, Idaho hoping to heal. But a stranger emerges from the surrounding woods to test her once again. The final chapter of this thrilling trilogy, The Angel of Indian Lake, reunites us with the beloved heroine as she wages war against the Lake Witch for the soul of the town. She’ll need all the strength her many scars can provide and the support of the loved ones she’s lost along the way.

Today, Shelby Novak of Scare You to Sleep and Jenn Adams of The Losers’ Club: A Stephen King Podcast sit down to chat with the award-winning author about the concluding chapter in his bestselling Indian Lake trilogy. Together they discuss the origins of Jade’s beloved nickname, life in a small town, complicated villains, and all those horror references that made the first two novels fan favorites. Jenn reveals how many times she cried while reading (spoiler: a lot), Shelby geeks out over the novel’s emotional structure, and all three weigh in on their favorite final girls and which entry is the best in the Final Destination franchise.

The way that The Angel of Indian Lake closes that loop is masterful, solidifying Jade Daniels’ poignant, profound legacy in the slasher realm.”
