If you collect monster toys, you may want to pitch in on a new fundraising campaign that just hit Kickstarter. From Gruesome Toys comes original monster “Seatus the Sea Monster,“ a Toho-inspired toy that’s been in the making for three years.
Gruesome’s Brandon Garza explains, “We were fans of the Toho universe growing up, and naturally found a love for all things kaiju. Our love for kaiju led us into the world of art toys and Sofubi of all types. I had the privilege of living in Japan for almost 5 years, and was able to really see the ins and outs of the Sofubi world. I knew that I had to make this a reality. [We] had a similar mindset for what we wanted in a toy and so it was a natural occurrence that we partnered up and came up with Seatus.”
Seatus stands at 9 inches tall, featuring 4 points of articulation and is packed with a ton of detail. Every pull is made in Japan out of the highest quality vinyl available.
The company is currently seeking $3,000 to cover production costs, with over half that amount already raised at the time of writing this. Donations at the $125 level or higher will get you a pre-order of the toy itself; $125 nabs you a one-time-only release of Seatus in black vinyl. Higher donations also get you subsequent Seatus releases.
