Slimer Gushes Out of Muncher in Hasbro’s ‘Ghostbusters’ Ecto-Plasm Lab Playset?!

Published

on

With a new Ghostbusters on the way this November, Hasbro is making the call by going all-out on a new line of toys.

Just last week, Hasbro revealed dozens of new action figures, not to mention an RC RTV Ghost Trap, Mini-Puft Popper, and even a Ghostbusters-themed “Clue”. Not included in the press release – and possibly because of spoilers – is a really cool ecto-plasm playset.

Ghostbusters News details the “Ghostbusters Ecto-Plasm Lab” that’s centered around Ghostbusters: Afterlife‘s newest monster: Muncher.

In the lab, you mix your own ecto-plasm, inject it directly into Muncher, and then squeeze.

A blob-like monster with six limbs, Muncher looks to be cut from the same cloth as Slimer, calling to mind the iconic ghost design while putting a new twist on it.

This is important because, well, Slimer is actually pictured directly on the front of the toy’s box. Even more interesting, Slimer is the ecto-plasm oozing out of Muncher!

While this by no means is any sort of confirmation that Slimer will appear in Ghostbusters: Afterlife this coming November, it does raise an eyebrow – Muncher’s inclusion indicates that the “Ecto-Plasm Lab” is an Afterlife product. Are they just using Slimer’s iconic and recognizable image to help sell this new product or will we find out that Slimer actually resides within Muncher in Ghostbusters: Afterlife? Hmm…

Monster High Skullector Lineup

In skelebration of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Mattel has unveiled brand-new Monster High Skullector drops set to arrive over the coming months that include Halloween II‘s Michael Myers, The Nightmare Before Christmas‘s Oogie Boogie, Krampus, and more.

The new arrivals begin today, with a limited drop of Universal Monsters Skullector dolls—featuring Frankenstein’s Monster, The Mummy, and Dracula—available exclusively on Walmart.com for $44 each. If you miss it, don’t worry: the trio arrives in retail stores and rolls out internationally on September 1.

With the Halloween season just around the corner, Monster High is slashing into the spirit with a new Michael Myers doll inspired by Halloween II. Michael Myers’s Monster High makeover is a nod to his hospital showdown with Laurie, complete with a red glitter spattered jumpsuit and tons of spine-chilling Easter egg accessories fans of the film will find totally to die for. Look for this slay queen to launch on August 7.

All Hallows’ Eve brings a holiday treat for fans of Tim Burton and director Henry Selick’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. The burlap sack baddie of Halloween Town gets a Monster High makeover on October 30, featuring neon green fashion with black patchwork-like stitches and a whole lot of buggy details.

The holiday horrors continue with the December 3 launch of a Monster High doll inspired by 2015’s Krampus movie. A deep red velveteen jacket, extra-long chains add eerie movement, and black knee-high boots recreate Krampus’ cloven hooves. You’ll wind up on the naughty list in style with this one.

All upcoming releases are listed on the Mattel Creations website, where fans can keep track of the releases.

Get a peek at the new lineup below in the meantime.
