Last week, Adult Swim posted several claymation “Rick and Morty” shorts that spoofed horror classics from Gremlins to Poltergeist. Now, Director Matt Taylor takes us on a three-minute long trip through the “Rick and Morty” multiverse. in anticipation of the Season 3 premiere on July 30th at 11:30p ET. The video takes the characters of Rick and Morty on a wild Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-esque ride through various animation stylings in sort of an homage to what Fox has been doing with “The Simpsons” opening scenes in recent years. It’s mesmerizing to say the least.
“Rick and Morty” is Titmouse and Adult Swim’s most scientifically accurate animated comedy. Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, it catalogs the bizarre misadventures of a bored scientific genius/drunkard and his socially awkward grandson, Morty. Their exploits tend to have unintended consequences for Morty’s dysfunctional family, especially his unfailingly mediocre father, Jerry.
