A third season of HBO’s “True Detective” has been up in the air in the wake of the poor reception to Season 2, but it seems the network is moving forward with it.
Confirming recent rumors, HBO just announced at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, “Luke Cage”) will star in Season 3 of “True Detective.”
Via reporter Diane Gordon on Twitter, who is at the event, HBO is currently talking to directors.
Fellow reporter Chris E. Hayner adds that the HBO boss has read 5 scripts so far and “he thinks they’re terrific.”
For now, that’s all we know.
