Why? The same reason Season 2 was destined to be hated.
Recently, Matthew McConaughey expressed interest in reprising the role of Rust Cohle for another season of HBO’s “True Detective,“ which has thus far been an anthology series devoted to telling brand new stories every season. An exciting thought, to be sure. Then again, maybe perfect things should be left as perfect things.
That’s how Woody Harrelson feels, at least, telling Yahoo this week that unlike McConaughey, he sees no point whatsoever in playing the character of Martin Hart again.
“I don’t see doing that [again],” Harrelson explained. “Because it went very well the first time and [if I] come back around to it, what else are you going to hear but, ‘Not as good! Just wasn’t as good. Boy, you guys were good before, but this time…’”
“I don’t want to even hear that,” he added.
Mahershala Ali will star in the recently announced third season of “True Detective,” being written by Nic Pizzolatto and directed by Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room).
“The next installment tells the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods,” with Ali as Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas.
