Filming begins early this year on the third season of HBO’s “True Detective,“ and we’ve learned today that Stephen Dorff, who most recently starred in last year’s Leatherface, is the latest to join the cast.
Variety reports that Dorff will play Roland West, an Arkansas State Investigator who, along with his partner, has his life and career influenced over three decades by a baffling crime.
Season 3 tells the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods.
Carmen Ejogo will play the female lead, Amelia Reardon, an Arkansas schoolteacher with a connection to two missing children in 1980.
Mahershala Ali plays Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas.
Nic Pizzolatto will serve as showrunner and direct alongside Green Room‘s Jeremy Saulnier. Executive producers include Pizzolatto, Saulnier, Scott Stephens, Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey and Cary Fukunaga. Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin, Bard Dorros and Richard Brown are exec producers.
