“I tried to warn you. People hate clowns now.”
Remember last year, when Andy Muschietti’s IT was about to be released, and real-life clowns bemoaned that Pennywise and the scary clown craze sweeping the nation at that time were hurting their industry? With children mostly terrified of clowns at this point, real clowns are being put out of work… and fictional clowns are too, it turns out.
Last night’s episode of “The Simpsons,“ titled ‘Fears of a Clown,’ played off of last year’s “the clown industry is dying” headlines, centered on Krusty and his attempt to find a new profession in the wake of his silly antics being deemed terrifying. It all started when Bart played a prank, gluing Krusty masks to Springfield Elementary’s employees.
The episode even featured an appearance from the new Pennywise!
