Before directing the immensely entertaining Thor: Ragnarok, Taika Waititi brought us What We Do in the Shadows, a horror-comedy he co-wrote and co-directed with Jemaine Clement, as well as starred in. The hilarious film centered on a group of vampires living together in a flat, instantly becoming a horror fan favorite.
As we recently told you, FX ordered a pilot of a potential What We Do in the Shadows series, and we’ve just learned tonight that they’ve ordered it to series!
FX has ordered a 10-episode first season of “What We Do in the Shadows,” a half-hour comedy series set in the world of the film. Waititi and Clement created the series, which is aiming to premiere in Spring 2019.
“Set in New York City, the series follows three vampires who have been roommates for hundreds and hundreds of years,” Variety reports. “It will star Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, and Harvey Guillen.”
Clement, Waititi, and Paul Simms will executive produce with Scott Rudin, Eli Bush, and Garrett Basch. Last we heard, Clement wrote the pilot and Waititi directed.
