You’ll Be Seeing Much More of These Two Characters in “The Walking Dead” Season 9
With Angela Kang taking over as showrunner beginning with Season 9, we’ve been told to expect that “The Walking Dead” will be fresh and different when it returns later this year. It’ll be a while before we see our first look at the new season, as filming only just began, but we do have a little bit of Season 9 news for you tonight.
Via TV Line, both Avi Nash (“Siddiq”) and Callan McAuliffe (“Alden”) have been promoted to series regular roles beginning in Season 9. Siddiq, a doctor who should prove quite useful to the group, is the character Carl Grimes lost his life saving, while Alden was originally a member of the Saviors but switched sides after being captured.
Both characters first appeared in Season 8.
A lonely Carrie White seeks friendship and answers in the first teaser for Carrie, a brand new adaptation of Stephen King’s classic story from horror master Mike Flanagan.
Along with the new teaser comes the announcement that the eight-episode limited series premieres on Prime Video on October 7.
The series follows misfit high‑schooler Carrie White (Summer H. Howell), who has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan). After her father’s sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence.
Carrie is written and executive produced by showrunner Mike Flanagan (Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House) with Flanagan also directing four episodes.
Stephen King also serves as executive producer.
Also starring in the series are Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Josie Tota as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy, Thalia Dudek as Emaline, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin, and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.
Each of the show’s episodes will apparently open with the introduction of “a different, unique story of a different woman, somewhere else in the world and in time, coming to terms with their own abilities.” Flanagan teased, “Carrie’s specific place among that group of women is part of the real joy that we get to discover over the course of the season.”
Expect Flanagan to expand King’s story in unexpected ways, using a modern lens.
