The very first season of “Stranger Things” premiered on Netflix in the summer of 2016, with the second season arriving the following October. The wait for Season 3 will be even longer, Netflix confirmed over the weekend, with Season 3 set for arrival in Summer 2019.
During Netflix’s Television Critics Association session over the weekend, VP of original content Cindy Holland confirmed what we had suspected, and explained the reason for the wait.
“It’s a handcrafted show,” she said. “The Duffer brothers and Shawn Levy have worked really hard, and they understand the stakes are high. They want to deliver something bigger and better than what they did last year. And so they really want to take the time to get it right.”
Holland teased of Season 3, “More special effects, it’s going to be a really exciting season.”
Season 3 is set during the Summer of 1985.
