Epix Turning Vonnegut’s “Slaughterhouse-Five” into a Television Series

Published

It was reported last year that Universal Cable Productions was working on turning Kurt Vonnegut’s 1969 novel “Slaughterhouse-Five” into a TV series, and Variety updates today that the project has landed at Epix. Kari Skogland (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) is attached to direct, with Gale Anne Hurd (“The Walking Dead”) executive producing.

“Based on Kurt Vonnegut’s classic novel of the same name, the project focuses on Billy Pilgrim, a WW2 soldier who becomes “unstuck in time” and travels back and forth through his past, present and future. The novel explores the idea of predestination versus free will, the impacts of war, as well as the perception of time itself.”

The series hails from writer and executive producer Patrick Macmanus, with Jon Brown of Ensemble Entertainment and Bradley Yonover of Brand Y Media also exec producing.

The novel originally became a feature film back in 1972, directed by George Roy Hill.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.
