Originally a Chiller production, “Slasher” has gone on to have two very successful seasons. They’re so well-received that Netflix has moved forward on a third, as we reported a few months back. The information is always mum, but we did some digging and discovered some incredibly exciting news.

Bloody Disgusting can exclusively report that Backcountry and Pyewacket‘s Adam MacDonald directed the entire third season of the Netflix horror anthology series, “Slasher”, for Canadian creator and original content producer, Shaftesbury.

We’re told the third season of “Slasher”:

“Follows a killer seeking revenge on witnesses to a murder in an apartment complex.”

The series was created and executive produced by Aaron Martin (“Degrassi: The Next Generation”, “Being Erica”) who also served as showrunner for the first two seasons. Martin is currently showrunning the upcoming Netflix Sci-Fi Drama “Another Life.” Ian Carpenter (“Frankie Drake Mysteries”) serves as executive producer/showrunner on the third season.

Toronto-based actor-turned-director MacDonald recently directed the genre hits Backcountry (88% on Rotten Tomatoes) and Pyewacket (83% on Rotten Tomatoes) — both premiered at TIFF to rave reviews and were released by IFC Midnight.

Additionally, MacDonald’s original horror anthology series Night Terrors is currently in development with Gary Fleder’s MOJO Films banner, and he has two undisclosed features in the works for 2019. He is repped by APA, The Characters Agency in Canada, and Cohen & Gardner.

Last week we learned that Steve Buscemi had joined the cast of “Wednesday” Season 2 at Netflix, and Variety lets us know that Thandiwe Newton (“Westworld”) has also signed on.

Jenna Ortega is back as Wednesday Addams in the upcoming second season of Netflix’s “Wednesday,” with Steve Buscemi playing the new principal of Nevermore Academy.

Jenna Ortega stars in the hit series as Wednesday Addams, with Luis Guzmán playing Gomez and Catherine Zeta-Jones playing Morticia in Tim Burton’s Netflix series. Christina Ricci also appears in the show, playing a brand new role, with Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.

“Wednesday” is described as “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy.” The series follows…

“Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.”

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (“Smallville”) are the writers and showrunners, with Tim Burton executive producing and directing several episodes of the show’s debut season.

We don’t know much about “Wednesday” Season 2 at the moment but Jenna Ortega has promised that the new season will be “bolder” and darker than the first season of the series.

“We’ve decided we want to lean into the horror more,” Ortega said last year.
