Director Mike Flanagan has made it pretty clear that he’s definitely not interested in continuing the story of the Crain family in a potential second season of Netflix’s “The Haunting of Hill House,“ as their experience with the titular house has come to an end and there’s no reason to drag it on any further. That said, Flanagan does seem open to turning the series into something of an anthology, with subsequent seasons telling new stories with new characters.
Flanagan told EW last month, “I think that there are all sorts of different directions we could go in, with the house or with something completely different. I love the idea of an anthology as well. The show is about haunted places and haunted people, and there’s no shortage of either. So, there’s any number of things we could do, in or out of Hill House.”
Chatting with THR, star Carla Gugino (who also starred in Flanagan’s film Gerald’s Game) just noted that if Flanagan wants her back for more, she’s more than ready to show up.
“Mike Flanagan said he would be interested in the notion of an anthology, where some actors come back to play different characters. I think he feels like he has told the complete story of the Crain family. But if I was invited and I was able to, I would really love to, just because I do love to collaborate with him,” Gugino told the site.
