In the wake of last year’s sequel Blade Runner 2049, The Wrap reports today that Crunchyroll, Adult Swim and Alcon Television Group are joining forces for an anime series inspired by the film, to be titled Blade Runner: Black Lotus.
The site details, “Adult Swim will have the worldwide rights — excluding Asia — to distribute the 13-episode series, which will air on the network’s anime programming block Toonami. Crunchyroll, an anime-centric streaming service, will handle worldwide distribution for its community.”
“Black Lotus” will be set in the year 2032, including familiar faces.
The 30-min episodes will be produced by Sola Digital and directed by Shinji Aramaki (“Appleseed”) and Kenji Kamiyama (“Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex”).
